Top 10 Things to do in Baltimore

Baltimore, or known as “Charm City” is a vibrant city filled with culture, history, sports, and much more. It is known for John Hopkins, the Baltimore Ravens, Crab cakes (I still have not have one, veg head problems) and the headquarters of Under Armour. This city is split up into many neighborhoods with each having their own character.  Here are the top 10 things you don’t want to miss after spending a weekend in Baltimore.

  1. Inner Harbor is known for small shops and many restaurants that overlook the harbor. This is one area that is a must when visiting Baltimore. One can see the locals play sand volleyball, skateboarding, paddleboarding, or just enjoying a scenic boat ride along the harbor. If one visits Baltimore on a rainy day, the science museum is a must see filled with various activities that will bring out your inner child. If animals or sea creatures are more of your idea of fun, go visit the aquarium. If you are so lucky to visit on a beautiful day, enjoy a cocktail at one of the many restaurants that line this neighborhood.
  2. Fells Point is a charming neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and vibrant nightlife. I enjoy grabbing breakfast at the Blue Moon Diner. Most weekends during the summer one can fine a farmers market or a festival lining the streets of this neighborhood.
  3. For anyone who is a football or baseball fan, you have come to the right city. The Orioles have been dominating the AL East during this 2023 season. The orange and black pride is infectious. As football season approaches, every bar will have the Ravens on.
  4. A quirky little neighborhood, Hampden is known for its many cute shops, unique street art, and many options for food. If visiting the city during the holidays, one must explore the famous “Miracle on 34th Street” Christmas lights.
  5. Throughout Baltimore County and the city, there are plenty of local wineries and breweries to check out. Don’t forget to look up to see if live music is playing at one of these many locations.
  6. For those who want to check out the fall leaves turn, check out the many trails that Maryland has to offer. Within half an hour of Baltimore, there are many trails to escape the chaos of city living.
  7. Whether you are a walker or a running, exploring the Canton waterfront is a must when coming to Baltimore. Checking out the many ships that line the harbor or grab a drink on the harbor, this cute neighborhood is worth a visit.
  8. Along the harbor, there are paid boat rides that one can do that usually include dinner. However, there is also a water taxi between some of the neighborhoods that offers free rides along the harbor without the worry of car traffic.
  9. The neighborhood of Mount Vernon is unique. Try a new restaurant or go see a show at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall when visiting this neighborhood.
  10. This is a city with many traditions such as the lantern festival in October, or Artscape, one of the biggest music and art festival in this area, so don’t forget to look up what is happening during your stay.
